Usage
:
1. Pre-soak the Ingredients : Soak the rice and urad or any other pulse type which you want to grind, in water for at least 4-6 hours or overnight. This softens the grains and makes them easier to grind.
2. Rinse and Drain : After soaking, rinse both the ingredients under fresh water to remove any excess starch.
3. Setup the Grinding Machine : Place the grinding machine on a flat surface. Ensure that it is stable and plugged into an appropriate power source to begin the grinding process.
4. Add Ingredients to the Grinder : Start by adding the soaked ingredients into the grinding area. Add some water depending on how thick you want your batter. Secure the lid properly and switch on the machine.
5. Start the Grinding process : Allow the pulses or lentils to grind until it reaches a smooth and fluffy texture, typically about 15-20 minutes. You'll see the mixture becoming airy. Scrape down the sides as needed to ensure all dal is uniformly ground.
6. Finish the process : Upon completing the grinding process, make sure that all the batter is transferred to a container and residues are cleaned well.
Maintenance :
Rinse the Parts : Use warm water to rinse the drum and blades. Avoid using abrasive cleaning materials that can scratch the surface.
Dry Thoroughly : After cleaning, make sure all parts are thoroughly dried before reassembling to prevent rust and mold.
Check for Wear and Tear : Regularly inspect the blades for any signs of wear, dullness, or damage. Dull blades can result in inefficient grinding and longer processing times.
Avoid Overloading : Don’t exceed the recommended capacity of the grinding machine, as this can put undue stress on the motor.
Use Appropriate Lubricant : Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines regarding the type of lubricant to use on moving parts. A few drops of oil can prevent friction and wear.
Applications
:
Preparation of Idli Batter : Idli is a traditional South Indian steamed rice cake made from fermented rice and urad dal (black gram). The grinding machine efficiently grinds soaked rice and urad dal into a smooth batter, which is essential for achieving the right texture and fermentation properties. The consistency of the batter directly affects the fluffiness and taste of the idlis.
Preparation of Dosa Batter : Dosas are thin, crispy pancakes made from a similar batter as idlis but often with different proportions or additional ingredients like fenugreek seeds. The grinding machine allows for precise control over the texture of the dosa batter, ensuring it is neither too thick nor too watery, which is critical for making perfect dosas.
Commercial Use in Restaurants : In commercial settings such as restaurants and catering services, these machines are invaluable due to their capacity to grind large quantities of batter quickly and efficiently.
