Optional : Natural binders like wheat flour or gram flour, if desired

A clean working area and tools (like spatula or spoon for mixing)
Step 2 : Prepare the Cow Dung Mixture
Collect Fresh Cow Dung : Ensure you have clean, fresh cow dung. Ideally, it should be gathered from healthy cows, free from dirt and debris.
Mix with Water (if necessary) : Depending on the dryness of the dung, you may need to add some water. The mixture should be pliable and not too dry or too wet.
Optional Binding Agents : Some artisans prefer adding natural binders like wheat or gram flour to enhance the strength and durability of the diyas. Mix it thoroughly for an even consistency.
Step 3 : Load the Machine
Open the Molds : Depending on your machine design, open the molds to prepare for filling.
Fill the Mixture : Take small amounts of the prepared cow dung mixture and fill the molds evenly. Be careful not to overfill or underfill, as this will affect the shape of your diyas.
Close the Molds : Once filled, close the mold tightly. Ensure that there are no gaps and that the material is firmly packed.
Step 4 : Compress the Mixture
Use the Pressure Mechanism : Apply pressure using the manual lever or handle to compress the cow dung mixture. This ensures that the diya takes shape properly and is compact enough for drying.
Check the Compression : Make sure the mold is adequately compressed. You may need to adjust the pressure if you find that the diyas aren't holding their shape.
Step 5 : Remove the Diyas
Open the Molds : Carefully open the molds. If done correctly, the diyas should come out easily without breaking.
Inspect Each Diya : Check for any imperfections or cracks. If any diyas are damaged, you can remold them by kneading the mixture again.
Step 6 : Dry the Diyas
Sun Drying : Place the diyas in a clean, dry area under direct sunlight. This will help them harden and become more durable. The drying process may take a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the humidity and sunlight.
Storage : Once adequately dried, store them in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture damage.\
Maintenance :
1. Cleaning After Use : After each use, wipe down the machine with a damp cloth to remove any remaining cow dung. Use a soft brush to clean hard-to-reach areas. Ensure that the machine is completely dry before storing.
2. Inspect Moving Parts : Regularly check the hinges, levers, and any other moving parts for smooth operation. If any part seems stiff or difficult to maneuver, apply a small amount of food-grade lubricant to ensure smooth functioning.
3. Routine Deep Cleaning : Perform a deep clean on a monthly basis, depending on your usage frequency. Disassemble parts (if applicable) and immerse them in water for thorough cleaning. Scrub with a non-abrasive sponge and rinse well with water.
Applications
:
Environmental Sustainability : Manual diya making machines utilize natural raw material such as cow dung to produce biodegradable diyas. This application is particularly significant in the context of environmental sustainability, as it reduces reliance on plastic and other non-biodegradable materials.
Cultural and Religious Practices : Diyas hold immense cultural significance in many Indian festivals, especially during Diwali, where they symbolize light overcoming darkness. The manual diya making machine facilitates the mass production of these lamps, ensuring that they are readily available for various religious ceremonies and celebrations.
Small-Scale Entrepreneurship : The manual diya making machine presents an opportunity for small-scale entrepreneurs to start their own businesses. By producing diyas locally, individuals can cater to community needs while generating income.
