Short Description
Spice/Masala Hammer Mill,
3 HP Single Phase Motor, 50-60 Kg/hr Output Capacity
Country of origin: India
Description
A Spice/Masala hammer mills are machines that grind spices and herbs into fine powder or paste. The hammer mill has a revolving shaft with free-swinging hammers that impact and grind the spices against a perforated screen, producing the required particle size. The high-speed rotation of the hammers generate impact forces that crush and ground the spices, while the perforated screen controls the particle size that passes through. The blower mechanism helps in transporting the milled material. The finely ground masala is then collected at the mill's bottom and packaged or further processed. Hammer mills are widely employed in commercial settings such as spice processing industries due to their capacity to produce uniform particle sizes and handle a diverse range of spices and herbs. This machine is a highly adaptable machine that can be changed to create varied particle sizes according to requirement.
Features
:
Robust Design: Hammer mills are engineered for durability and robustness, featuring a solid construction that can withstand continuous operation in demanding environments.
High Efficiency: Hammer mills demonstrate high throughput rates, enabling efficient processing of large volumes of material within a relatively short time frame.
Low Operating Costs: With their straightforward mechanical design and minimal energy consumption, hammer mills present a cost-effective solution for material size reduction.

Usage
:
1. Preparation Before Use:
Check the Equipment: Inspect the hammer mill for any visible damage or wear. Ensure that all parts are securely fastened and that there are no obstructions in the grinding chamber.
Select Appropriate Spices: Choose the spices you intend to grind. Common options include chili, coriander, turmeric, and mixed spices. Ensure they are clean and free from moisture.
2. Setting Up the Hammer Mill:
Positioning: Place the hammer mill on a stable surface away from any flammable materials or sources of moisture. Ensure there is adequate space around it for ventilation and ease of access.
Power Supply: Connect the hammer mill to a suitable power source that matches its voltage requirements (typically 220V or 380V depending on your region). Make sure that the power supply is grounded properly.
3. Operating the Hammer Mill:
Loading Spices: Open the feed hopper and carefully load your spices into it. Do not overload; follow the manufacturer’s guidelines regarding maximum capacity.
Starting the Machine: Turn on the power switch to start the machine. Allow it to reach full speed before introducing any spices into the grinding chamber.
Adjusting Settings: If applicable, adjust settings such as grinding speed or fineness according to your desired output. Some models may have adjustable screens for different particle sizes.
4. Grinding Process:
Feeding Spices: Gradually feed spices into the machine while monitoring its performance. Avoid forcing too much material at once, as this can lead to clogging.
Monitoring Output: Observe the consistency of ground spices through an outlet port or collection bag attached to the machine. If necessary, stop feeding more material until you achieve your desired texture.
Maintenance :
Hammers: Check for rounding of the cutting edges. Hammers should be rotated when they become well-rounded and replaced when both edges are worn.
Screens: Inspect screens for elongation of perforations or rounding of bar edges, which indicates that they need replacement.
Bearings: Monitor bearings for excessive heat, unusual noises, or vibrations. Replace them if they show signs of wear.
Bearings: Clean out old grease from bearings every six to twelve months and pack them with new grease up to half full. Avoid over-lubrication as it can lead to bearing failure.
Applications
:
Grinding Spices: The primary application of the 3 HP spice hammer mill is to grind spices such as turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and other tough spices. The machine’s toothed blades are specifically designed to handle these materials efficiently while preserving their nutritional value and enhancing flavor.
Processing Medicinal Herbs: In addition to spices, the hammer mill is suitable for grinding medicinal herbs. It ensures that the herbs are processed hygienically, which is crucial for maintaining their therapeutic properties. This application is particularly important in the pharmaceutical industry where precise particle size can affect the efficacy of herbal medications.
Commercial Applications: This hammer mill is ideal for commercial use in small/medium scale production facilities where there is a need to process large quantities of spices or herbs efficiently.
