Inspection : Check cows for any signs of illness or discomfort.
Hygiene : Clean the udder and teats thoroughly with warm water and a sanitizing solution to minimize the risk of infection.
Calm the Animals : Keep the environment quiet and stress-free, and handle the cows gently to ensure their comfort.
3. Adjust the Machine Settings :
Each herd may have specific milking needs, so it’s essential to set the machine correctly :
Select the Right Pulsation Rate : This is usually specified in the manual and can differ between different lactation stages of cows.
Set the Milk Flow Rate : Adjust according to the cow’s milking speed and to prevent machine overload.
4. Attach the Milking Clusters :
Connect the milking clusters to the cows following these steps :
Positioning : Approach the cow calmly and position the milking cluster directly below the udder.
Attachment : Carefully attach the teat cups to each teat, ensuring a snug fit without applying too much pressure.
Check for Proper Seal : Ensure there is no leakage or improper positioning of the cups.
5. Monitor the Milking Process :
While the machine operates, it’s important to monitor the process :
Observe Cow Behavior : Ensure the cow is comfortable and relaxed.
Observe the Milk Flow : While conducting the milking process, observe the flow rate of the milk and make sure that uniform flow is maintained.
6. Detach the Clusters :
Once the cow has been milked, it’s time to detach the milking clusters, gently detach the milking cluster from the cow's udders upon completion of the milking process.
Maintenance :
Clean the Milking Equipment : Rinse and sanitize all milking components, including the milking cluster and the storage tank, to prevent bacteria growth.
Routine Inspections : Conduct daily checks for wear and tear, ensuring all components are functioning properly.
Scheduled Maintenance : Ensure lubrication, parts replacement, and deep cleaning to keep machinery in peak condition.
Applications
:
Efficient Milking : The primary application of a milking machine is it's ability to milk cows swiftly and efficiently. The machine mimics the calf's suckling which helps to keep the cow calm during the process of milking.
Opening Streak Canal : The partial vacuum used in the milking machine is for opening the streak canal in the teat, allowing milk to flow without any complications.
Reduced Dependence On Skilled Labor : The milking machine reduces the dependence on skilled labor for milking operations, making the task more efficient and cost effective and let's anyone take control over the milking operation without the need of having the required skillset to milk a cow.
