Soil organic carbon content up to 1.5 to 2.0 % increases soil porosity that supports growth of the soil microorganisms. This increases availability of different nutrients to the plant, resulting in better crop yield.
Indian “Green revolution” became reality due to the application of chemical fertilisers to, the high yielding varieties. But excess use of these chemicals has resulted in serious. problems like salt accumulation in upper soil layer and consequent degradation of Soil.
Features :
Kit is user friendly as any farmer himself can perform this on the field.
It gives quick and reliable results.
Evaluates the impact of organic carbon amendments supplemented periodically.
It gives idea of amount of organic manure additions necessary for better yield.
Highly economical as compared with other standard laboratory methods.

Applications :
This will be highly useful for farmers, state and Central govt Agri projects, Agri-institutes, KVK’s, ICAR Labs, Pvt organisations and other organisations working towards organic farming and Soil conservation. Soil organic carbon content up to 1.5 to 2.0 % increases soil porosity that supports growth of the soil microorganisms. This increases availability of different nutrients to the plant, resulting in better crop yield. Thus organic carbon is a true indicator of the soil health. Also it is proven fact that soil having sufficient organic carbon will definitely have proper content of other major elements like Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium.
Working Principal :
After the soil sample is prepared, solution A is mixed with soil to extracts the organic carbon from the soil, B is added to increase the extraction efficiency and a coloured complex is formed. This coloured complex formed is the direct proportion to the organic content of the soil. Colour chart is provided to match the soil sample solution to indicate the approximate manure/compost to be added to the soil.
