Description
A Wooden Cold Oil Press also knows as Wooden Chekku is a traditional method of extracting oil from various different edible oil seeds and nuts without the use of chemicals or heat. This machine is made up mostly using wood and it houses a wooden plunger for efficient grinding process. The seeds are placed inside the wooden barrel and the plunger is then rotated to grind the crush the seeds and extract oil from it. The pressure exerted from the plunger helps in the extraction of cold pressed oil. This is a highly preferred way of extracting oil from seeds because by cold pressing technique the original flavor, aroma is retained along with keeping all the nutritional values of the oil since no external heat or chemical is used during extraction. This machine is equipped with a 5 HP three phase motor with a capacity to filter 25-30 kilograms of raw material at once which makes this machine perfectly suitable for commercial usage.

Usage
:
1. Gather Your Materials :
Before starting the oil extraction process, you need to gather the following materials:
Seeds or Nuts: Choose your desired oilseed such as sesame, groundnut, coconut, mustard, or any other suitable seeds.
Wooden Oil Press (Chekku): Ensure that the press is clean and in good working condition.
Container for Collected Oil: Have a clean container ready to collect the extracted oil.
2. Prepare the Seeds or Nuts :
Preparation of the seeds or nuts is crucial for optimal oil extraction:
Cleaning: Rinse the seeds or nuts thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
Drying: Ensure that they are completely dry before pressing. Excess moisture can affect the quality of the oil.
Crushing (if necessary): For some seeds like coconut, it may be beneficial to crush them into smaller pieces to facilitate easier extraction.
3. Set Up the Wooden Oil Press :
Setting up your Chekku properly is essential for effective operation:
Positioning: Place the wooden press on a stable surface where it can be operated safely and comfortably.
Loading Seeds/Nuts: Open the pressing chamber of the Chekku and fill it with your prepared seeds or nuts. Do not overfill; leave some space for expansion during pressing.
4. Operating the Wooden Oil Press :
Once everything is set up, you can begin extracting oil:
Applying Pressure: Start operating the wooden press by applying pressure for proper crushing using the wooden plunger that helps in crushing the ingredients efficiently.
Monitoring Extraction: As you apply pressure, watch for oil to start flowing out through a spout into your collection container. The process may take some time depending on the type of seed being pressed.
5. Collecting and Filtering Oil :
After sufficient pressure has been applied and no more oil seems to be coming out:
Collecting Oil: Carefully collect all extracted oil from your container.
Filtering (if needed): If there are any solid particles in your collected oil, use a filter cloth to strain them out for a clearer product.
Maintenance :
Wipe Down Surfaces : Use a soft cloth or sponge to wipe down all surfaces, especially where oil residues may cling.
Avoid Water : Do not soak the wooden parts in water as this can cause warping or cracking. Instead, use a damp cloth for cleaning.
Apply Sparingly : Use a soft cloth to apply a thin layer of oil over all wooden surfaces. This helps to nourish the wood and protect it from moisture loss.
Avoid Humidity : High humidity can lead to mold growth on wood; thus, ensure proper ventilation in storage areas.
Applications
:
Culinary Uses : Wooden cold oil press chekku, also known as marachekku, is primarily used for extracting oils from various seeds and nuts, which are then utilized in cooking. The oils produced, such as sesame, coconut, and groundnut oil, are favored for their rich flavor and nutritional benefits.
Health and Wellness : Wooden cold-pressed oils retain essential nutrients due to the low-temperature extraction process. They are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids that contribute to heart health, improve skin condition, enhance hair growth, and support overall well-being.
Cosmetic Applications : The high-quality oils extracted from wooden presses are increasingly being used in cosmetic products. Their natural properties make them suitable for skin moisturizers, hair oils, and massage oils. The absence of chemicals ensures that these products are gentle on the skin.
